Jackson Shepherd's Wings for Life Page
This charity event, put on by my employer, Red Bull, is one of the more interesting charity events I've ever taken place in. Rather than meeting a minimum $ requirement for donations before money is sent to the charity, Red Bull's administrative members are covering the cost of the event. This means that everything donated is immediately put towards the research it claims to support, which is a concept that seems obvious, but is actually not the way most fundraisers are run.
Additionally, spinal cord research has some of the greatest cross-field medial applicability of any type of research. It is closely tied to brain function, hormone balances, and stem cell production, fields of science much in need in terms of funding, but also in terms of level-headed public support. https://endparalysis.org/spinal-cord-research-progress-towards-recovery/ has a relatively thorough read on broad-scale applications if you're curious.
It doesn't have to be much, but I hope you will join me in donating to the cause!
Here's a message from Red Bull:
SPINAL CORD INJURY MUST BECOME CURABLE
Imagine living life to the fullest and then one-day your worst nightmare becomes a reality. Those living with a spinal cord injury never planned to live life so drastically different from one day to the next. For this reason, and many more, Wings for Life was founded to fund a cure. Wings for Life is a not-for-profit spinal cord research foundation. Wings for Life administrative expenses are generously underwritten by Red Bull; therefore every dollar raised will be donated to world-class scientific research, and clinical trials around the globe, aimed at finding a biological cure for spinal cord injuries.
